GRR is in the fall edition of Gainesville’s Our Town magazine — check it out!

From the table of contents: “Gainesville is home to the Roller Rebels, a group of enthusiastic roller derby women that entertains their fans with fast moves and bonecrushing hits. However, the members of this non-profit go beyond just skating at practice and playing bouts; they run their operation and also organize fundraisers.”

GRR Wins, Raises $1,100 for STL Charity

Members of the Gainesville Roller Rebels and the Tallahassee Roller Girls await the start of Sunday’s “Throwdown in Titletown” at Skate Station Funworks in Gainesville.

We’re sore and exhausted, but here’s the deets!

GRR beat Tallahassee yesterday, with a final score of 107-90. Look for the bout recap coming soon! In the meantime, check out the reporter views from the Gainesville Sun (“Gainesville Roller Rebels end season on a high note”) and Alligator (“Gainesville Roller Rebels win final match”).

Even better: GRR raised more than $1,000 for the Spread The Love charity, which will go toward helping Tallahassee Rollergirl Danger S fight cervical cancer.

What an amazing weekend for sports in Gainesville! See you in 2010, folks.
