Who can become a referee?

Our referee team is made up of folks of all genders who just really love rules for some reason and are also over the age of 18.

What else do I need to know?

As of 2021, in order to attend Gainesville Roller Rebels practices all participants must show proof of vaccination against Covid-19.

New Skaters and Refs Facebook Group

The best way to keep up with skating opportunities and other GRR events is to join our New Skaters and Refs Facebook group.

On top of having our most current practice schedule, this group is an amazing resource for anyone looking to learn more about skating! We regularly make helpful and informative posts like-

  • how-to videos and instructional guides on foundational skating techniques
  • skating drills you can try on your own
  • what gear to buy and how to maintain it
  • off-skates exercises for conditioning and injury prevention

Find out more by joining the New Skaters and Refs Facebook group or by contacting us at [email protected].

Experienced Skaters & Refs

If you are an experienced skater or referee interested in joining GRR or checking out our practices, please contact our Training Committee at [email protected]

Currently, practices for experienced skaters and refs are being held on Monday and Thursday nights from 6:30 – 9 pm. Please note that there is a $5 charge for drop-in skaters and that you must present proof of vaccination.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Who needs skates to be awesome?

We wouldn’t be where we are without our amazing, hard working volunteers! We are always looking for officials, medics, and other volunteers.

There are many ways to help the league — you can work at bouts, help coordinate events, perform, officiate, and more!

Anyone 18-and-up can volunteer and we take volunteers throughout the season.

If you’re interested in volunteering for our 2024 home season, contact us at [email protected] or check out our GRR Volunteers Facebook Group!
