On Friday, Oct. 2, see Drew Barrymore’s roller derby movie “Whip It” at Regal Gainesville Cinema 14 (3101 SW 35th Blvd.) — and meet your local rollergirls at the 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. shows at the same time. (Psst… There just might be some FREE “WHIP IT SWAG” in it for you!)
Then come out on Sunday, Oct. 4, for REAL ROLLER DERBY with GRR and the Jacksonville Roller Girls’ River City Rat Pack!
Skate Station Funworks’ (1311 NW 76th Blvd.) doors open at 6:30 and the bout begins at 7. It’s best to bring your own chair, but limited table seating will also be available; track-side (aka rink floor) seating available for 18-and-up. Concessions — including beer for 21-and-up with ID — will be available inside Skate Station.*** (P.S. Bring cash for cool GRR merchandise like tees, tanks, totes and more!)
TICKETS ON SALE NOW! Admission: $8 in advance (ages 13-and-up) at brownpapertickets.com, Hyde & Zeke Records (402 NW 10th Ave.), Sweet Dreams Ice Cream (3437 W University Ave.) or Skate Station; $12 day-of at the door; 12-and-under in free.
As part of GRR’s pledge to give back to the community, in conjunction with this bout GRR is hosting the LIFESOUTH Bloodmobile, which will open at 6 p.m. to make sure no donor has to miss a minute of the action. BONUS: The first 10 on-site blood donors get into the bout free — and receive Pabst Blue Ribbon swag (21-and-up only, while supplies last)!
After the bout, head right across the parking lot to SPLITZ Bowling Center and the Thirsty Gator Sports Bar & Grill for $1 Thirsty Gator Lager drafts at the after-party!
