roller derby teammates embrace at a Swamp City Sirens bout

That’s a wrap on the Gainesville Roller Rebels 2019 Season! We’ve had such an amazing year with both of our teams coming out with winning seasons. Here’s a snapshot of how our teams did in 2019:

  • 3/16 Swamp City Sirens at Vice City Rollers (Away, Loss 145 – 208)
  • 4/13 Swamp City Sirens vs. J-Villains (Home, Win 156 – 77)
  • 5/11 All-Stars vs Richland Regulators (Away, Win 188 – 127)
  • 5/12 All-Stars vs Tallahassee (Away, Win 148 – 101)
  • 6/15 All-Stars vs. Pensacola Roller Gurlz (Home, Win 196 – 140) 
  • 7/13 Swamp City Sirens vs. Orlando Sun Blockers (Home, Win 173 – 130) 
  • 8/24 Swamp City Sirens vs. Beachside Brawlers (Home, Win 262 – 156)
  • 9/21 Swamp City Sirens vs. All City Rollers (Away, Loss 124 – 131)
  • 10/5 Swamp City Sirens vs. Gold Coast Derby Grrls (Home, Win 147 – 138)

Our WFTDA Travel Team, the Gainesville Roller Rebels All-Stars, did particularly well this year, winning all of their games. This resulted in the team jumping 60 spots in the rankings and ending their competitive season ranked at 213!

Not to be outdone, two of our amazing officials took some big steps this season. GRR Head Referee, O. Yoshi Dint, refereed his 200th bout and lent his reffing talents to the WFTDA International Playoffs in Seattle. And our amazing Head NSO, Bouncing Bite-Her, became a WFTDA Recognized Non-Skating Official, demonstrating the passion and dedication she has poured into this role since she started. Congratulations Yoshi and BB!

And of course, none of what we accomplished this year could have happened without the incredible backbone of our wonderful volunteers! Your hard work made all of our successes this season possible!
