What are you made of? Find out — join us for a morning of Derby 101!
When: Saturday, April 4th 10am-1pm
Where: Alachua County Fairgrounds (3100 NE 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL)
This is a perfect, low-pressure opportunity to see if derby is something you’d enjoy, whether it’s as a future skater or a referee. We will introduce you to the game and our team, as well as cover some basic skating skills. NO PRIOR SKATING EXPERIENCE NEEDED. Seriously!
Folks of all genders are welcome to participate! While our competitive skating team is limited to women, gender-expansive and gender non-conforming people, we are also always looking to train referees of all genders, as our sport literally could not exist without them!
What do you need to bring?
- Comfortable workout clothes
- Sneakers
- A water bottle
- A mouthguard– Don’t forget as you cannot skate without it!
We’ll provide all the other gear you need to get rolling! Arrive at 10am to get fitted for gear. You must be at least 18 years old in order to participate.
The cost for this session is $20, or $10 if you have your own gear. You can pay via cash or card at the event, or you can send your payment in advance via PayPal to [email protected] (please note your name and the event and select “Friends and Family” when paying).
Can’t make it? We accept new skaters and referees at any time! Just message us at [email protected] or check out our Fresh Meat Facebook Group.
