FEATURED CHARITY
Raffle proceeds from tonight's bout will go to Operation Catnip
Operation Catnip’s life-saving work improves the lives of cats and the communities in which they live by spaying, neutering, and vaccinating free-roaming cats, preventing the births of kittens, mentoring other programs around the country, and training veterinarians to save America’s community cats. Since its creation in July of 1998, Operation Catnip of Gainesville has sterilized over 85,000 cats in Alachua County and the surrounding areas.Â

DERBY 101
So how is
roller derby played?
There are two 30-minute periods in a game, and each jam is two minutes long. At the start of the jam, each team sends out five skaters: four blockers and a jammer.Â
The jammer wears a star on their helmet. The jammers try to get past the opposing team’s blockers, and the blockers try their best to stop the jammer from passing them.Â
After the jammer passes all of the blockers once, they start earning one point for each opposing blocker they pass. The first jammer to get out becomes the “lead jammer” and they have the power to call off the jam.
